Wish I made $150K a year...
!!! UNSUPPORTED LINE BREAK IN HEADER !!!
Continental BMW of Connecticut Employee Embezzles $1.1 Million, And Gets 30 Months In Prison-The former controller of Continental BMW used the stolen funds for travel, plastic surgery, and a $50,000 Ford Mustang.
I mean, really? The only way she could have made it worse would be if she went and bought an Audi or Mercedes Benz

we had one here who embezzled funds from a charity for disabled/ troubled kids to pay for fancy bags, holidays and a breast enlargement for potential sponsors (oh and she gave herself a 160k year salary out of a 500k year budget for the whole program)

Couldnt very well have bought a BMW from the dealership she was stealing from!
![]() 12/28/2018 at 14:45 |

...and $150k annual salary wasn’t enough...
https://datausa.io/profile/geo/darien-ct/
...and she’s ONLY facing 30 months?!
Something something privilege,
Something something complete.

If she is ‘Murrican you can b et she goes to Church every Sunday and shares terrible Facebook memes about how all “Illegal Aliens” are all criminals and avoids “urban” areas because of high crime.

Awaiting her announcement that she is a “changed woman” and the launch of her new book on the Dr.Phil show in a couple of years.

...and Dr. Phil is having an affair with her.
On a side note, it's possible that before she got caught, she made up about 1% of the poverty level in Darien...and probably 4% now.

A company that I used to work for had their accountant embezzle over $1M from them and that guy got minimal time too. He was only caught because they installed a new accounting system.

Bet her Instagram posts have “# Hustle” “# Grind” “# Blessed” mentioned at least once weekly with pictures in front of the Dealership’s most expensive cars.

Wouldn’t it have been easier for her to just negotiate a company car as part of her compensation package?

What I don’t understand is that if you’re going to steal this level of money, why wouldn’t you book a few grand of it to move to an unextraditable country?

Most criminals are dumb.

I knew someone who ran a business and the controller embezzled tens of thousands from him and rather than take her to court, he terminated her employment and then submitted all the money she stole
in the form of a 1099 to the IRS.
![]() 12/28/2018 at 15:33 |

She can put her 30-month prison bid on her resume for her next controller job.

Too hard to get the money out. That, and $1.1 MM will go a long way in Cuba, but the money was spent as soon as it left the dealership’s coffers.

Much more gratifying!

What I’m gathering from this is that smart criminals get away with it. Time to think up another backup retirement plan...

While I don’t disagree with your assessment, this last bit caught my eye:
“Luckily for Continental BMW, they were able to get $755,000 of these damages covered by insurance, but that’s still a good quarter-million short of the real damage. Vence-Small probably isn’t thrilled to find out that she needs to pay back both her former employer and the insurer on top of serving her prison sentence.”
The 30-month prison sentence over a million and change in embezzled funds seems light, but this snaps it back into perspective; I bet she's going to have a hard time finding another position with similar salary after she's out of prison, so paying this back will remain with her for some time to come...

From what I read, besides her $150,000 salary, she got a BMW company car. I think that Mustang she kept at home or her husband drove it.

If you’re going to commit a crime it might as well be white color. She probably sucked someone off or paid someone off.
A guy I worked with traded on inside information and went to jail for 3 fucking years. All he made was $50k. Mind you, he definitely deserved that time, but this lady actually steals from someone and only gets 2.5yrs is absurd.
![]() 12/28/2018 at 16:07 |

She did, the full article stated she had a BMW company car. I think that was her second car or she bought it for her husband.

Maybe she thought she'd have to make a quick getaway if the heat came down, and needed something reliable.

I thought it was brilliant. Tens of thousands of dollars and it’s not like the lady is going to make a complaint.

I suspect the embezzler qualifies on at least a level or two.

One guy who works in the same company as my brother was in today’s national news. He had stolen money (~€150k) from a safe that he could access. He had left work after a “ sudden illness” and and vanished with the money. The police found out that he had traveled to a neighboring country and they are now looking for him.

That does seem like a very low sum to ruin your life over. I mean it’s a lot for a lump sum, but not to live on for multiple years.

I did find it surprising how much cash is still used in Europe. Though if the cops are looking yes you wont get far, but I almost imagine you could live longer without arrousing attention than in the states.

I currently have an employee who stole over 200 grand from a previous employer. Wrightig Out expense checks. She will probably do jail time eventually. It’s amazing how long white collar crime takes to prosecute.
The real kicker is this person gambled all the money away so they’re still broke after stealing 50- 75 grand a year for 3 years

Oh don’t worry I expect to see this on the Front page in a couple of days for sure.
